NSW – Castle Hill Social & “Session 0”

Join your fellow adventurers for the first ever pre-narrative Dungeons & Castles Sydney Social @ Mary’s Castle Hill. Share a story and raise an ale with faces both new and old, as you connect with Tavern Keeper Josh and our Professional Dungeon Masters.

Whether you are new to the game and looking for a story to settle into, or a veteran on the hunt for originality and a consistent weekly table – we are here to introduce you to our unique shared world.

During this introductory evening, you will:

• Meet the Dungeons & Castles Sydney team, each of which an outstanding storyteller and orchestrator of thrilling tabletop roleplaying game play.
• Be introduced to the hybrid fictional world of Castell y Hyll as created by your host, Tavern Keeper Josh.
• Create your own character to play in future weeks, or be connected to a pre-generated character complete with a ready-to-go character sheet! All with the assistance and support of Tavern Keeper Josh or one of the D&C Sydney’s Professional DMs.
• Enjoy the thematic and characteristic surrounds within the customised play spaces hosted by Mary’s Castle Hill.
• Learn the ropes with welcoming, social, inventive and accessible Dungeons & Dragons game play, complete with resources, experience and assistance at the ready.
• Round the night out with a tabletop board game or two supplied for venue play by the D&C Sydney team.

Location: Mary’s Castle Hill, 7/250 Old Northern Rd, Castle Hill NSW 2154. Please note that as Mary’s has an incredible menu on offer, outside food and drink is not permitted at this venue.

Cost: Tickets are FREE for this special event sponsored by Dungeons & Castles. Please note that tickets are limited in accordance with venue capacity.

Time: Meet at 6:30 for a 7pm start. Each session will conclude at approximately 10-10:30pm.

A Short Introduction:

To what lengths would you go to protect your home from the unknown horrors beyond? As the earth beneath you is torn asunder, how will you stand upon a weakened foundation and face what is to come? The “Invasion” has begun and those that call Castell y Hyll their home look to their heroes, both sung and unsung, for hope and strength.

In Book One (2025 – “Progress”) our adventurers saw divided ideals between factions, an ever-present tug of war between magic and technology, the chaos that comes from acting in hatred and an imposter king’s rise to power. All orchestrated and instigated by sparks from shadowy puppeteers. Fear rose while hope faltered in the hearts of many. The chaos grew to an impending doom as a long and carefully crafted plan came to its climax. Little did any know that this would be the one final catalyst to break the very foundations of the realm. Now, with the threat of yet unknown entities looming it is up to a group of new adventurers and heroes to bolster the realms defences and ultimately find a way to halt, the “Invasion”.

This is but the start of many stories to come within Book Two, exploring the region of Castell y Hyll in the aftermath of Book One. Throughout the three Chapters that you play within the story this year, the actions of your character matter and make a difference to our shared world. To what end, is not yet written. It can only be lived.

The Adventure continues away from the table!

As you come to know the region of Castell y Hyll and its foundations within our own reality, you will be invited to engage with real locations in a unique way. Our “Merging Realities” initiative will present you with clues, riddles and puzzles that will take you to specific and real locations that connect with their unreal counterparts within our fictional world. Discover lore, earn character boons and even win prizes as you blend both worlds and create a more meaningful and engaging experience!
